We remain OPEN.  We are not affected by the new lockdown measures being imposed on the province of Ontario beginning at 12:01 a.m. on December 26th.  As a healthcare facility we are able to remain open to provide therapy for our clients.  Please note however that we will continue to limit the number or people in the clinic at any one time and our stringent pre-screening and covid-19 protocols remain in place.

Balance Physiotherapy remains OPEN.  Our professional associations have confirmed directly with the Chief Medical Officer of Health's office that Physiotherapy and Registered Massage Therapy services may continue to be provided in keeping with restrictions in place for physical distancing, patient screening and infection control measures.  

Please note that caregivers and family members (maximum one per client) are only permitted to enter the clinic if their physical assistance is required.  Virtual sessions may be provided in lieu of in-person sessions.  Please contact your physiotherapist or massage therapist directly if they haven't contacted you yet, to discuss any changes in the nature or frequency of your appointments moving forward

Physiotherapy’s Health & Safety Protocols

We have adopted measures recommended by our professional organizations, through IPAC and Ontario Public Health.  We have implemented stringent health and safety protocols.

  • Sneeze guards have been installed at the front desk

  • The central waiting room has been emptied, and a small waiting area has been created outside of each private treatment room 

  • The new waiting area chairs will be disinfected between clients

  • Directional floor signs will ensure the safe flow of people around the clinic without close physical contact

  • Our second entrance will be put into use for the first time; clients being seen in three private treatment rooms closest to this entrance may be asked to use this alternate exit to the parking area

  • A second entrance to the washrooms has been created to allow clients to access them from either side of the clinic, minimizing foot traffic through the central areas

  • Gym equipment usage zones clearly marked to maintain necessary physical distancing 

  • Clear signage has been placed throughout the clinic to remind people of safety protocols including keeping a safe physical distance from one another within the clinic 

  • We have strict protocols for hand washing and hand sanitizing.  We are also asking clients to disinfect their hands before entering and again before leaving the clinic

  • All of our therapists will have appropriate Protective Personal Equipment including: gloves, mask, face shield and gowns

  • We are asking all clients to wear face masks in the clinic

  • All pillows have waterproof covers underneath the pillowcases.  These plastic covers are sprayed and disinfected after each client

  • We will change the treatment table linens after every appointment (sheets, pillow cases, blankets and towels) and sanitize each treatment table and each item of exercise equipment after use

  • Cleaning protocol includes regular and frequent disinfecting of common areas and high-use surfaces after every client or staff contact

  • Hand sanitizer stations are stationed throughout the clinic for client and staff use

  • High touch surfaces such as magazines and the water cooler have been removed from the clinic

  • Appointment times will be staggered to minimize overlap of clients entering or exiting the clinic

Your Screening and Appointment Protocol

  • A two-step screening protocol will be implemented before you enter the clinic – including a passive screening prior to confirming your appointment and an active screening at the door to the clinic.

  • We are asking all clients to please wear their own face masks during treatment sessions, whether in clinic or at home. If you do not have a mask, we will help you source one. 

  • Please wash or disinfect your hands upon entering the clinic and again before you leave.

If you are experiencing any respiratory or flu-like symptoms or have traveled, we would ask that you wait a period of 14 days before booking an appointment.   If you already have an appointment booked and experience any of these symptoms, please call us and we would be happy to reschedule your appointment.

We continue to remain informed with up to date information about COVID-19 and related Public Health protocols.  We are committed to implementing new protocols and adapting our safety measures as needed.
